The US government is attempting to break Zuckerberg’s current company up. A package of bills making its way through Congress would potentially force the company to spin out Instagram and WhatsApp, and limit Facebook’s ability to make future acquisitions — or offer services connected to its hardware products.
All corporation seem to want to control the metaverse and this is also confirmed by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg when he says Meta and Apple are in ‘very deep, philosophical competition’ to build the metaverse “This is a competition of philosophies and ideas,” Meta’s CEO recently told employees.
Apple and Meta are indeed main competitors but their strategies may be wrong. Apple is currently costing the Zuckerberg’s Facebook billions of dollars a year in lost ad revenue on iOS, on all iPhone, devices thanks to its prompt that asks people if they want a third-party app to track them for showing ads. Zuckerberg’s remarks suggest that even as he tries to invent his way out of being under Apple’s thumb on mobile, the two tech giants are going to be battling for at least some years to come.
